2011 Census – Make Sure Liverpool Counts

Census forms will start arriving through the letter boxes of all Liverpool households in early March.

The Census is a count of all people in England and Wales. It is vital to Liverpool that we get as accurate a count as possible as it will directly influence the city’s population count and the funding public and voluntary services in Liverpool will get from Central government for the next 10 years. It also provides vital information about neighbourhoods and is used to help plan what services local neighbourhoods receive. This includes:

  • Schools
  • Health services
  • Hospitals
  • The police
  • Libraries
  • Leisure Centres and facilities
  • Children’s Centres
  • Funding for voluntary groups etc.

So please complete your Census form to make sure your neighbourhood gets the services it needs. You can complete your form either by post or online at www.census.gov.uk.

Any answers you give are completely confidential. Legally answers given by an individual cannot be passed on by the Office for National Statistics (who carry out the Census) to third parties, the Council or other government departments for 100 years. Remember the Census is compulsory, people can be fined up to £1,000 for not completing it.

If you have any queries or need help filling in your Census form, please contact the National Census Helpline on 0300 020110. This number can also be used to request large print forms, translations or Braille copies of the Census form.
