World Aids Day takes place annually on Thursday 1 December. Being aware of the facts about HIV and acting on that knowledge to inform your behaviour are vital steps in taking care of your own health and wellbeing, the health and wellbeing of others, and ensuring you treat everyone living with HIV fairly and with understanding.
What can you do to Act Aware?
- Wear a red ribbon, encourage your friends, family, colleagues to wear one too
- Create a World Aids Day information point in work/college/community setting
- Organise a fundraising event in aid of Sahir House, the main HIV charity in Merseyside
- Suggest a ‘wear red for the day’ at work/college/school
- Invite Sahir House to deliver HIV awareness information sessions with HIV positive guest speaker to your work place
- Include a World AIDS Day feature in any in any publications in your community / workplace to raise much needed awareness and understanding of the impact of HIV
- Suggest to friends / family / colleagues to request a World Aids Day pack from Sahir House
- Become a ‘Friend of Sahir House’ and take part in public collections during this period
- Attend Sahir House World Aids Day Event in Mountford Hall, Liverpool University Guild of Students, 160 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool. The event commences at 7.00pm – 8.00pm. This is a free event
Sahir House holds a World AIDS Day event on the evening of Thursday 1 December at Mountford Hall, Liverpool University Guild of Students.

Examples of participation: make a speech, read a poem, sing or make a personal testimony. Your organisation can have an information stand at the event. Tables will be available for your resources.
