As part of their Firefit brand, to increase participation of communities within sport, cultural and healthy lifestyles, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are hosting free workshops as part of an international art competition entitled 'My Place on the Isle', exploring faith and identity in modern Britain.
The workshops are open to emerging or established artists from within Merseyside who are over 17 years old and there is the opportunity for the winners of the 'My Place on the Isle' competition to have their artwork displayed at the Saatchi Gallery during London 2012.
The workshops will run on the following dates, 9.30am-5pm:
- Wednesday 20 June 2011
- Wednesday 22 July 2011
- Wednesday 28 September 2011
Places on the workshops are limited and attendees will be chosen at random if applicants exceed spaces, however this is just the beginning of an exciting project. Throughout 2011 and beyond Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service will be developing further opportunities to enable community art groups to display their work.
Download the application form for 'My Place on the Isle' and return to culture@merseyfire.gov.uk. Successful applicants will be informed upon receipt of application.
