Business Rate Relief for Charities - Request for Information

LCVS | United Way has received complaints that organisations are no longer allowed Discretionary Rate Relef on their business by Liverpool City Council.

Charities are entitled to Mandatory Rate Relief of 80% of Business Rates and some charities have been allowed a further 20%, meaning they pay no Business Rates at all. This discretionary relief is being removed in order to help the Council achieve its savings target.

LCVS | United Way accepts the need for the Council to make these savings but wants to demonstrate the impact of these changes on frontline organisations. If you have been affected, please contact us. Deadline for responses is Monday 5 September 2011.
