Charity Business, the agency that provides outsourced financial back-office services, has ceased trading, leaving around 200 small and medium-sized charities without services and around 20 staff without jobs.
The company’s staff were given very short notice that the company was being wound up and even shorter notice from their landlord to vacate the office premises. Staff were able to remove some clients’ documents, but not all.
Around 50 charities have outsourced their entire finance function to the agency, and a further 150 outsource some tasks such as payroll.
LCVS has a team of community accountants who can help organisations with the complexities of charity, company and taxation law. The team can provide training, assist in setting up accounting systems or undertake preparation of year-end accounts. They can provide specialist advice on all charity accounting issues, and answers to any issues regarding accounting requirements, VAT or PAYE. They also carry out independent examinations and an efficient, cost effective payroll service tailored to your needs.
