Deane Road Cemetery Art and Photographic Exhibition

This exhibition of work by local artists and photographers portrays the Deane Road Cemetery's journey towards restoration. The exhibition also gives an opportunity to find out about Jewish culture, the history of the cemetery and the many prominent local figures of the Liverpool Old Hebrew Congregation who were buried there in the 19th century.

Deane Road Cemetery was derelict for a hundred years. Following several failed restoration attempts, in 2002 an ongoing restoration project started that has gradually improved the physical state of the cemetery. In December 2010, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £494,000 to the project, and completion is expected in Spring 2012.

The exhibition takes place in Kensington Methodist Church, 294 Kensington, Liverpool, L7 2RN. It is open to the public until Sunday 23 October. Opening times are Thursdays adnd Fridays 11am-4pm and Sundays 1-4pm.
