The former managing director of the property, care and leisure company, Ashbury Homes, has joined health and social care charity PSS as director of operations.

Paul Harris has been on the board of PSS, which is based in Seel Street in Liverpool city centre, for 2 years.

His new role, which also has the title of deputy chief executive, gives him overall responsibility for day to day operations within the charity.

PSS is involved in a wide variety of projects, including a scheme to help people with dementia stay independent, a project that offers vulnerable adults a home within a family and support for children who are caring for an older relative.

It was set up to deal with deprivation in Liverpool after the First World War and innovations over the years include the creation of Britain’s first citizens’ advice bureau, the first marriage guidance bureau and an early version of legal aid.

Paul has worked for many years in the social housing sector and, in his last but one role, was managing director of Hornby Homes, a Merseyside based Housing Association.

Paul said: “I’m delighted to join PSS - an organisation with such a rich tradition in the health and social care sector. I’m looking forward to building on our excellent reputation for providing a diverse range of services which make a real difference to the people we serve.”

Paul is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Chartered Institute of Management and, out of work, his main interests include his wife Kerrie and his two year old twins, Jonathan and Izabella. He is also an avid supporter of Everton FC.
