Sefton CVS has secured funding from the National Offender Management Service (part of the Ministry of Justice) to deliver an innovative pilot informal mentoring project, working with (ex)-offenders. The project will provide mentoring support to (ex)-offenders through project staff, volunteer mentors and through engagement with existing, and emerging, mentoring projects within Merseyside. Sefton CVS is also keen to establish links with organisations providing services to (ex)-offenders.
This pilot flagship project is one of two awarded within England, and aims to push the boundaries for new and innovative ex-offender rehabilitation programmes and provide local organisation with the opportunities to engage and be recognised nationally.
The project aims to:
- To reduce the re-offending rates of Merseyside (ex)-offenders.
- To enable the effective/ supported resettlement of Merseyside (ex)-offenders through practically-focused mentoring.
- To support (ex)-offenders access to appropriate services in Sefton and Merseyside.
Sefton CVS is running a promotional event on Monday 16 May, 1.30 - 3.30 pm, at LCVS, 151 Dale Street.
To attend the event, return the booking form to Angela Lucas, Sefton CVS.
