LCVS | United Way held an informal seminar on "Life as a Trustee" on Wednesday 21 September, in partnership with Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer Centre Liverpool. The free event was hosted by Rathbones.

The event was aimed at individuals wanting to support local charities by becoming a trustee. Presentations were given by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Frank Prendergast and Stephen Claus, Head of the Charity & Social Enterprise Team from local law firm Brabners Chaffe Street.

The Lord Mayor talked of his personal experiences in managing a the Lord Mayor Charity and the important role his trustees play in its success. Stephen Claus dispelled myths around being a trustee, and emphasised the need in Liverpool for people to get involved with charities. Following lively discussions it was agreed the most important thing was believing in the cause and wanting to make a difference.

"A great chance to network with people in the same position," commented one attendee.
