From Monday 2 May to Friday 6 May, thousands of people around the UK are taking part in a charity project called Live Below the Line. This project aims to raise awareness of global poverty, and it aims to raise funds for the charity Results UK who campaign and lobby Governments for a better deal for developing countries.
For the project, the aim is to try and feed ourselves for the week between Monday 2 May and Friday 6 May for less than £1 a day.
There are still 1.4 billion people around the world who live on less than £1 a day. The project raises awareness of those people who don’t have a choice.
If you want to take part in this project yourself, you can sign up at www.livebelowtheline.org.uk, and raise money for any one of five great charities. You can do it as an individual, and eat for £1 a day; or you and your friends can do it as a group, and pool your pounds! Could five of you live for £25 a week? Why not try?
And most importantly – if you decide to do it, tell Results UK you’re doing it! E-mail dominic.davies@results.org.uk, and watch out for our Facebook group coming soon. Results UK will be sending out recipes for tasty meals that can be prepared for less than £1.
