You are invited to tell what you think of Liverpool City Councils plans to review eligibility criteria for adult social care.
For many years Liverpool City Council has maintained the same levels of support for people needing adult social care, while most other authorities have reviewed and raised their eligibility criteria levels.
The council, as with all local authorities across the country, now has less money and is facing tough spending decisions. They have reached the point where there is a need to look at the eligibility criteria for providing support to people. The council uses guidance from the Department of Health previously known as FACS - Fair Access to Care Services. This was replaced in 2010 by Guidance on Eligibility for Adult Social Care. Under this guidance, Liverpool currently fund care services for people with moderate, substantial and critical risks to their independence.
The council is holding two public meetings which will give you the opportunity to meet with Senior Officers from Adult Social Care and Health, listen to a short presentation and then take part in a questions and answers session.
A copy of the consultation document and a questionnaire are available on the Liverpool City Council website. www.liverpool.gov.uk/liverpoolcares.
The two meetings will take place on Friday 1 April 2011 at LACE Conference Centre, Croxteth Drive, Sefton Park, L17 1AA.
Morning session - 10.00am to 12.00pm (tea and coffee will be available from 9.30am).
