Make a SmokeFree Families Pledge

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is urging people to make a SmokeFree Families pledge to reduce children’s exposure to second hand smoke.

Every time someone smokes in the presence of children they breathe in the toxins and smoke meaning they are smoking too. This is called second hand smoking or passive smoking and the effect this has on their health is devastating.

In the UK 42% of children are exposed to second hand smoke at home and in Liverpool alone 96,400 people smoke with 65% of those smoking in their household. This means that up to 17,000 children under 5 years old are admitted to hospital each year with a smoking-related illness.

Many parents don’t know the health risks linked to second hand smoke. Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation can help you make some small steps to protect them.
