Observational Placements Sought for Medical Undergraduates

University of Liverpool's School of Medicine is seeking organisations to host second year medical undergraduate students for an observational visit during the next academic year, 2011-12.

The aim is to demonstrate students how ‘care’ in its broadest sense is delivered in the community by offering students a full day’s attachment to a community organisation. All organisations are suitable – there is no requirement for it to be health-related.

You are invited to have medical students come to your organisation for one full day’s observational visit, in pairs or multiples thereof, between mid-September and the end of May. You can have students as many times as you wish during that period, on a Tuesday and/or Thursday. Student experiences will be as varied as the agencies which they visit, and agencies have great flexibility to plan the students’ attachment days - they could attend an open day or special activity, shadow a member of staff or observe a ‘normal’ working day - the choice is yours. The placements are purely observational, and require no ‘taught’ element from facilitators. All students have full enhanced CRB certificates and full Occupational Health clearance.

If you can host students, please indicated your availability of the placement spreadsheet and return to Kari Dodson, Community Resources Course Coordinator at Kari.Dodson@liverpool.ac.uk. You can use the same e-mail to request for more information, or telephone Kari on 0151 795 4342.
