Sponsor a Daffodil for Jospice's Golden Jubilee Garden

Over the last few months Jospice has been running a Plant a Bulb appeal to prepare for the charity's Golden Jubilee year in 2012. Many people have sponsored a daffodil bulb, which will be planted in a chosen area of the hospice grounds this autumn. Then a field of flowers will bloom in the spring to welcome the Golden Jubilee year at Jospice.

Friends and supporters have been invited to sponsor a bulb in memory of a loved one and the names of everyone being remembered in this way will be recorded in a special book at Jospice. This Golden Jubilee display will bloom every year, providing a central point in the area for many people think about their loved ones.

Sefton Meadows Garden Centre of Maghull & Tony Almond’s of Waterloo, and Lady Green Nursery Ince Blundell will donate the 5,000 bulbs to Jospice. A team of bankers from Nat West Bank will volunteer a day’s work in October to come and plant the bulbs.

The Sponsor a Bulb Appeal is open until Friday 30 September. If you would like to sponsor a bulb, telephone Jospice on 0151 924 3812 or e-mail enquiries@jospice.org.uk.

Pat Murphy, Director of Fundraising, said: “This appeal has been particularly popular and we are delighted to say that we have raised nearly £17,000 through this effort. So many local people have had a loved one cared for at Jospice and want to have this beautiful memorial, with the names recorded and linked to the Golden Jubilee.”
