Metal at Edge Hill Station is currently working with French artist Laurence Payot on an exciting community engagement art project called Coincidence.
The aim of the project is to create extraordinary coincidences within Wavetree and Picton, by inviting people living and working there to become 'secret actors' for a 'real life theatre play'. Getting involved is easy, there's no specific skills required as Coincidence will be accessible for a wide range of people and welcoming everyone. Over a few consecutive days, the artist will send daily instructions to the participants suggesting an action to carry out throughout that day, and as part of their daily life (in the street, at work, going shopping, etc...). The actions will be as simple as "smiling in the street" for example, but it is their collective repetition that will start to create an extraordinary coincidence within the area.
Laurence Payot wishes to meet with groups in the area to give them the opportunity to know more about the project, and also ask them about the area in general and suggest some actions that could be used during Coincidence. She would ideally meet with the group for 1/2 hour to an 1 hour, to have a chat and help them suggest interesting actions via a short presentation and activity.
If you would like to talk to Laurence Payot directly to arrange a date, telephone 07896 439 280.
