World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Wednesday 15 June has been developed by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) and endorsed by the World Health Organisation. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about abuse of older people.
You might consider promoting action in your area of work. There are a number of things that you can do to support the event:
- Make sure that information is displayed. The INPEA web site has a number of posters and information packs that can be downloaded from www.inpea.net/weaad.html
- Ask your colleagues to ‘wear something purple’ which is the slogan for the day promoted by INPEA.
- Host a coffee morning or meeting where people can generate discussion around these issues.
- Display information in a public area to generate awareness of the general public.
Liverpool City Council can supply a limited amount of awareness leaflets on a first come first served basis. Contact Alison Nimmo on 233 3226.
Please forward details of any activities planned to liverpoolcares@liverpool.gov.uk for display on the Liverpool City Council and INPEA websites.
