Young People’s Music Provision in Liverpool - Consultation Event

Wednesday 18 May, 1.30 – 5.30pm Contemporary Urban Centre, 41-51 Greenland Street, Liverpool, L1 0BS.

In the summer of 2010 Culture Liverpool (Liverpool City Council) worked in partnership with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool Music Support Service, Liverpool Youth & Play Service, Youth Music and ACME, commissioning Creative Universe Ltd. to map the provision of music resources for young people in Liverpool. This map is still in development but can be seen here www.youngmusic.org.uk.

The Henley Review of Music Education has now been published, along with the Government’s response and we are waiting to see the details on a National Plan for Music Education in the course of 2011/12. Come along to this consultation event to discuss young people’s music provision in Liverpool, and to ensure that Liverpool can be in the strongest position to respond to these developments for children and young people access the highest quality and broadest range of music.

Representatives from Liverpool City Council, Youth Music, the Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport will engage with Heads of Music from Liverpool schools and colleges, music organisations and Youth Services as well as members of the wider music industry to debate and understand the current picture and propose a way forward.

RSVP to info@creativeuniverse.co.uk stating if you are attending and how many places you would like to reserve. If you cannot attend but would like to receive the results of the consultation sessions, e-mail your details to the above address.
