Building a Stronger Britain Together Fund Is Now Open

At the heart of the Counter Extremism strategy sits a partnership between the Government and all those groups and communities who want to see extremism defeated. That is why the Home Office launched the Building a Stronger Britain Together (BSBT) Fund. The next round of this fund is now open.

The Building a Stronger Britain Together programme will help fund and support groups and communities involved in projects countering extremism and building more resilient communities.

To help groups expand their reach and influence, the BSBT programme offers two forms of support through a competitive bidding process:

  1. In-kind support, such as social media training, technical assistance to help a group improve their website, or capacity building work to help a group protect more vulnerable individuals
  2. Grants – targeted funding for specific projects that demonstrate they are meeting at least one of the three BSBT outcomes:
  • Fewer people holding attitudes, beliefs and feelings that oppose shared values
  • An increased sense of belonging and civic participation at the local level
  • More resilient communities

Groups with a track record of promoting community cohesion and building stronger communities are very much encouraged to get in touch.

The fund closes on Friday 16 February 2018.

Liverpool City Council is holding an event with the BSBT Team on Monday 29 January 2018, 1-3pm, at the Quaker Meeting House, 22 School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BT.

This is an opportunity to meet the team and find out more about the programme. If you are thinking of applying it would be useful to start to plan your application prior to the event so you have plenty of time to submit it before the deadline.

If you interested in applying for BSBT support, go online to read the guidance and access the form.

For more information about the event, or to book a place, contact, Joanne Matthews, Community Coordinator (Counter Extremism Strategy) at Joanne.matthews@liverpool.gov.uk or telephone 233 7019.
