LCVS can provide a range of services for non-profit organisations – in this section you’ll find details of how we can help your organisation – our support ranges from governance and management advice and services, funding advice and bid writing, to financial management advice and services.
So what’s a non-profit organisation?
A non-profit organisation is a type of organisation that is set up so that it doesn’t give out its profits to shareholders or members. For an organisation to be non-profit it must contain wording in its governing document (Constitution, Trust Deed or Articles of Association) that clearly restricts the organisation from distributing its profits to members or shareholders. It must also contain restrictions on what happens to the assets of the organisation should it close.
This does not prevent members, directors or trustees from receiving payment from the organisation e.g. a salary, payment for services or receiving benefits as a beneficiary. These are running costs.

Funded ‘free’ advice to organisations working in Liverpool
LCVS has received funding from Liverpool City Council to provide a limited number of organisations with capacity building advice and support on how to make their organisations well governed, well managed and well resourced. Charged for services
For organisations not eligible for our free capacity building support we can offer advice and services that are:
- Tailor made to suit the needs of your organisation
- A combination of information and advice, and doing things for you – perfect for busy managers or trustees who don’t have the time to do everything
- At a reasonable rate that is covering the costs of our overheads – and not for profit
