The Old Library Open Day

Event Date: 15 September 2018

The Old Library Open Day on Saturday 15 September as part of the national Heritage Open Days 2018 festival.

Between 10am and 3pm, we’ll be running exclusive tours of The Old Library grounds every 30 minutes so that you can get up close to the building before construction work starts next year. We will also have stands from some of our partner organisations set up at Lister Steps nursery so you can drop in at any time to meet some of the experts & volunteers we’re working with on the project, including:

  • Our design team from OMI architects who can talk you through our plans for the future of the building
  • Dr Oriel Prizeman from Cardiff University who is leading an international research project into Carnegie libraries across the UK and USA
  • The community archaeology team from the Museum of Liverpool and our volunteers who will be revealing what they’ve discovered so far about the building’s archaeology
  • Our partners from Periscope who are helping us film and photograph the project and will be offering some exciting training opportunities next year.

The event will take place at Lister Steps nursery in the blue portacabins at Old School Site, Lister Drive, L13 7HH. We hope you will be able to join us to find out more about The Old Library project and the history of this special building.
