The Francesca Bimpson Foundation has been started by family and friends, in memory of the 3 year old who died in hospital from her injuries three weeks after an arson attack on her family’s Liverpool home in December 2008 [see www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT9RlTuO8Ys], to raise money to offer support and respite to aid the recovery from the physical and psychological effects on families of serious crimes.
The aims of the Foundation will be:
- The respite and rehabilitation of families and victims of serious crime.
- The development of a one stop shop of support and the offer of counselling sessions by people you can relate to: ie. previous victims of serious crime in a designated building with Relaxing facilities.
- The offer of a playcentre on site for the use of toddlers and young children with designated playworkers, to give parents/guardians a break.
- The opportunity to enable networking of victims,to take place with refreshments and support tailored to individual needs.
- Facilities/resources to enable the development of a support group onsite.
- The purchase of a minibus for residential breaks away from stress and trauma for the people affected by serious crime.
- The formation a charity/charitable trust in Francesca’s name and memory.
Kieron Bimpson, Francesca’s father, said “I would like to keep my daughter’s memory alive in a positive way. There is a black hole for victims of murder in the months after they have lost a loved one. Ideally, I would love to see a support centre where families can go to help them deal with the practical and psychological effects of the tragedy which has affected them.
