The Rushworth Trust (Registered Charity no. 1076702)

The aim of the Trust is to further musical activities and education in the Liverpool area (within a radius of 60 miles of Liverpool Town Hall). Funds available are modest, and grants do not normally exceed £500 for individuals or £1,000 for organisations. Awards are not usually repeated for a second or further year. Any donations received will be used to fund extra grants.

The Trustees consider applications for grants to individuals such as:

  • Composers: assistance for publication, copying of material or performance
  • Young conductors: assistance for study, practical work or apprenticeship
  • Young performers: assistance for specialised training, for promoting a first appearance or towards the purchase of instruments
  • Student singers and instrumentalists: assistance for coaching for a scholarship, for maintenance for specialised study (but not towards the course fees or maintenance costs of higher education)

And to Choirs and Choral singers for:

  • Training, concerts, special trips or visits
  • Other special needs associated with musical events and organisations whose aims or purposes are charitable

Some Recent Awards:

A local Parish Church: £400 towards the purchase of a piano
A music student: £500 towards the purchase of a viola
A local charity: £350 to purchase musical instruments for work with people with Parkinson’s Disease
A local Sinfonietta: £300 towards the purchase of replacement music stands
A local musician & music tutor: £310 towards the purchase of a tanpura and tabla for further study and performance
