Charity Cheques Account
A Charity Cheques Account is a segregated client account, holding all the details of your charitable giving in one place - ideal for when you have to complete your tax return! It is like a bank account, recording all the income and expenditure.
With a Charity Cheques Account you can make your donations tax-free to any charity or charitable organisation. With just one payment you are able to spread your giving to as many charities as you choose, as often as you wish, and save on time and paperwork.
How does the account work?
- Payments can be made into your Account at any time, either by one-off or regular cash or cheque payments, income from investments, Gifts of Shares or Property, by a regular standing order, or even a debit or credit card donation by clicking the Donate Online button on the left of the screen.
- We provide you with a booklet of Charity Cheques vouchers that you can use to instruct us whenever you want to give to charity, e.g. to respond to disaster appeals or particular fund-raising events. We also provide multiple donation sheets for making a number of donations at once; standing instructions can be set up with us for your regular donations, e.g. annual contributions and Gift Aid subscriptions.
- The charitable status of each organisation is checked before we make the donation on your behalf. You can donate to any registered charity in the UK, and also to many other organisations recognised by the Inland Revenue as charitable, such as places of worship, hospitals and schools.
- A statement will be sent to you annually, or on request, giving you a record of your charitable giving.
- Your Charity Cheques Account is set up to reflect your individual needs. For example, you might wish to retain anonymity when making donations, or you might choose to develop a personal link with a charity. We also make arrangements for you concerning receipts and appeals that may be received from charities following your donations.
