Introduction to Community Theatre

From Wednesday 22 February 2012, 7pm Hope Street Limited, 13-15 Hope Street, Liverpool, Merseyside, L1 9BQ.

A five-week taster course in creating theatre from the stories of real people living in our local communities. The course works with theatre techniques that can help you understand the lives of people whose stories are waiting to be heard.

The course will be facilitated through drama and discussion. Areas covered:

  • What is a community?
  • What are community values?
  • Listening skills
  • Carl Rogers’ 'core conditions' – empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard
  • Techniques of sociodrama, especially Boal’s 'Theatre of the Oppressed'

Cost £15.50 or free to people on income-related benefits.
