Social Return on Investment

Monday 5 March 2012, 10am-4pm - venue to be agreed.

This training is for organisations working with children and families and will coincide with the North West Children England Families Network Meeting.

Social Return on Investement (SROI) is a tool to help you evidence value for money. SROI is particularly suited to services led by the voluntary sector where benefits are often broad and ‘social’ and where delivery sometimes makes use of volunteers.

The aim of the workshop is to improve participant’s knowledge of economic analysis in general and SROI in particular. By the end of the workshop you should have an increased understanding of:

  • What it means to express the value of your work in economic terms using SROI
  • The type of information you need in order to undertake your own analysis
  • The main steps involved in undertaking your own analysis

The day will start with the usual business of the Families Network with a morning session introducing you to SROI, the afternoon session will go into more depth for those who wish to explore this further. Participants will be provided with tools to take away following the workshop including a Guide to Economic Analysis and an Excel workbook designed specifically for use in conducting SROI analysis. The spreadsheet is designed to be simple to use and guidance is provided during the workshop.
