Submit a News Item

We are not able to publish every story we receive due to the sheer volume of information that is sent to us. However, sending your news, event or training course in the ideal format will greatly improve your chances of it being featured.

Please read the guidelines on this page to find out what we can use and how you can give yourself the best chance of having your news featured on our website, social media and newsletter.

What we share

Liverpool-specific, voluntary sector news stories and events, as well as some training courses. If you wish to share a job vacancy, the process is different; you can create your own job post, for free, via our Submit a Vacancy page.

What to send us

If comprehensive information about an event or training course has already been written and posted to your website or an event page (such as Eventbrite) then you can simply email us, requesting that we promote the event, with a link to that page. Information must be easy for someone to understand with no prior knowledge and the booking method must be simple and obvious.

Where the above is not the case, here is what to send us:

  1. The most important thing to remember is that all information must be sent to us in an accessible format. Words on an image (jpeg or png file) cannot be read by an e-reader, so if you are sending us a flyer as an image file, you must send us the words separately as well, in the body of your email, so that we can copy and paste them to go alongside your image. If you do not do this, we cannot use your flyer. We do not publish pdf documents in our news stories
  2. Ideally, send us a news story of two or three short paragraphs, written in the body of an email. If you have a press release, that’s fantastic and you can send that the same way. If you don’t, simply write the details as though you are writing an article that will appear on our site. Don’t worry if you don’t feel confident in your writing abilities. We can edit your words before publishing. And please remember that this will appear on the LCVS site, not on your own, so talk about your organisation in the third person; in other words don’t write ‘We will be hosting an event’, use the name of your organisation instead
  3. If you can, send us an image to go with the story BUT if your image is a flyer, remember that you need to send us the text in an accessible format too
  4. If people need to take action – email for information, visit a website to book etc – make sure to include a link or contact information that you are happy for us to share on our website
