Community Space Co-ordinator

Hours: 15 hours per week
Rate of pay: £12 per hour

HYPE Merseyside is looking for a passionate and motivated individual to support and develop a strong volunteer team to meet income targets and create a thriving, profitable business. As Community Space Co-ordinator you will take responsibility for ensuring the shop is ran in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures whilst raising as much money and awareness as possible for HYPE’s work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Empower volunteers to deliver and maintain exception retail standards through ongoing training and development
  • Manage and minimise risks to meet all safeguards in relation to financial procedures, health & safety and child safeguarding
  • Develop, maintain and lead a diverse team of volunteers to become a high performing team through individual coaching and Shop meetings
  • Be accountable for meeting or exceeding income targets in line with agreed financial and non-financial KPI’s
  • Network the shop into the community through events and fundraising initiatives if required.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrable ability to motivate, support and build strong relationships with volunteers. You will have a strong understanding of, and enthusiasm for community cohesion and social action projects. In addition you will:

  • Have a good understanding of retail business disciplines including budgeting, customer service, cash handling, stock control, working to financial targets
  • Have a exceptional organisation and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Be able to adopt a collaborative approach with excellent facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a team player with the ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Have the ability to recognise and prioritise opportunities with the greatest potential.

School Liaison Officer

Hours: 40 per week
Rate of pay: £18,000

The key responsibilities for this post are:

  • Create, develop and maintain productive working relationships with local schools and colleges
  • Identify school/college students and refer to Recruitment & Engagement team for ongoing support post-school/college
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholder audiences, including foundations/schools/colleges and communities
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop innovative interactive activities to increase engagement with young people across Wirral
  • Record school liaison activity in order to inform targeting in future business planning
  • Assist in the production of promotional materials in collaboration with the Marketing team e.g.workshops, courses, open events, leaflets and posters
  • Have an understanding of not-for-profit funding
  • Manage work in line with the HYPE policies and legal requirements including health and safety, child protection, equal opportunities, and financial regulations

Bike Mechanic

Hours: 15 per week
Rate of pay: £18 p/h

Key responsibilities:

  • Enforce Health and Safety Policy within the workshop and during outdoor activities
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are serviceable prior to Re-Cycle Workshop activities
  • Inspect all bicycles for damage and signs of wear and carry out pre-requisite repairs prior to issue to workshop participants
  • Maintain sufficient quantities of cycle tools, spares and accessories required for workshop activities, ensuring all orders meet the budgetary requirements of HYPE
  • Supervise, mentor and safeguard Re-Cycle workshop participants
  • Ensure security of all HYPE premises utilised for Re-Cycle activities
  • Manage work in line with the HYPE policies and legal requirements including health and safety, child protection, equal opportunities, and financial regulations

You must have experience of working with young people in a school or youth work setting.
