Volunteering with Ibijoke Children Foundation UK | Volunteers’ Week 2025

Meet John Ferguson a cornerstone of Ibijoke Children Foundation UK since 2018. He first joined them as a volunteer driver, but over time, his role evolved into so much more. From managing queues and providing door security, to helping with food packaging and logistics, John is always ready to step in wherever help is needed, he transforms every space he occupies with kindness, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to service.

They first met John at a church programme and invited him to support their charity. Since then, he’s become an essential part of their team. He regularly collects food donations from their partner stores M&S, Sainsbury’s, ALDI, LIDL, and ASDA and helps them serve families in need with compassion and order. His warm presence at the office brings comfort to both staff and service users.

John’s dedication shines especially bright during the Christmas season, where he volunteers as their Father Christmas, spreading joy to children with gifts, games, and his cheerful spirit. His ability to engage and bring happiness to their charity kids during these festive moments is truly heart-warming.

Thanks to his tireless commitment, the leadership of their charity invited John to become a trustee. As a trustee, he continues to contribute in every way possible attending meeting, supporting fundraising events like coffee mornings and bingo raffles, selling tickets, and promoting the charity at local parks and community gatherings. His local church is also a great supporter of their work, largely thanks to John’s passionate advocacy.

Even during his off days or annual leave from work, John never hesitates to show up and help. Whether it’s staying late to sort food parcels or ensuring smooth operations during busy service hours, his dedication goes above and beyond what is expected of any volunteer.

John Ferguson is not just a volunteer he is family, Because of John, their charity thrives. He doesn’t just volunteer he inspires, proving that true service comes from the heart. His service, love, and loyalty have left a lasting impact on everyone at Ibijoke Children Foundation UK. They are so grateful to have him, and this Volunteer’s Week, they say a heartfelt thank you.

They have wrote a message below for John:

To our dearest John:

You are the steady hands that keep us running,

The warm presence that comforts those we serve,

The living example of what it means to give without measure.

We appreciate you, Sir John Ferguson.
