Many charities trade, sometimes unknowingly, either as part of their charitable activities or solely to raise funds.
This course will help participants to navigate the minefield of charitable trading. Whilst issues will be dealt with in non-technical language, the session will hopefully identify areas which you may need to address or consider more fully
This introductory session will:
• Explore the main legal, taxation, and other financial aspects
• Dispel some common myths
• Provide guidance to help you avoid some of the many pitfalls
• Explore the wider aspects of the impact of taxes on charities, including a brief look at VAT, primary purpose trading, trading subsidiaries, and charity shops.
This course is for organisations who are planning to start trading, or for those who already do so and wish to refresh their knowledge.
