Africa Oyé: Call for Volunteers

Each year, Africa Oyé has to work hard to keep the festival free which, with an ever-growing event, is becoming increasingly challenging. This is why the festival needs you!

Africa Oyé will take place on 17 and 18 June 2017 in Sefton Park, 12.30-9.30pm both days. Entrance is free for all. It is the UK’s largest celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture. 2017 is Africa Oyé’s 25th Anniversary Year.

As an Oyé Representative, you will be working in keeping the festival free to all – providing positive relations with audiences and helping to raise funds to sustain future festivals. The role of an Oyé Rep is to collect donations, conduct audience questionnaires, sell raffle tickets and hand out information about the event, all the while engaging with the fantastic festival-goers.

The festival is asking for 2 hours of your time (or more if you would like) at the festival on Saturday 17 or Sunday 18 June 2017. You will get an Africa Oyé t-shirt, refreshments and a chance to meet people and learn new skills to enhance your CV.

You must have confidence, personality and enthusiasm. All volunteers need to be outgoing and motivated, with a friendly presence and determined attitude. To become an Oyé Rep, you must be over the age of 18, have a love for the festival (or would like to learn more about it) and help to keep the festival free for all for years to come.

You will need to make your own way to and from the festival site but there are plenty of public transport options and it is a beautiful cycling/walking location.

If you would like to sign up as an Oyé Rep for 2017, email your expression of interest to abbey@onefellswoop.co.uk.
