Arts Opportunity for Young Women from Liverpool

Liverpool’s Theatre in the Rough is seeking participants to create original work, for a new digital arts festival exploring young women’s responses to the climate emergency.

400 Parts Per Million is an online festival of creative responses to the climate emergency. Participants will work with leading activists and environmental scientists from around the world over a four-month period, in order to learn more about the ecological damage being done to our planet – as well as what we can do to inspire change.

With support from a team of arts professionals from Theatre in the Rough, they will then create short works to feature at the online festival, which will coincide with the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November.

Sarah Van Parys, co-director of Theatre in the Rough, said, “Women are under-represented in both STEM and the arts. Yet, globally, they are the most likely to be affected by climate change. This project aims to empower young women to be the artistic and ecological leaders we need.”

Participants must be female (inclusive of trans women), aged between 15 and 25, and live in the Liverpool City Region. No experience is necessary.

An application form and more information can be found by going to the 400 Parts website.

The deadline for applications is Friday 23 July 2021.
