Asylum Link Merseyside – Volunteer and Operations Manager

Term: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Salary: £30,451
Location: Liverpool L7 3HJ

Description: Asylum Link Merseyside is an established, well-respected charity based in the heart of Liverpool, serving the needs of asylum seekers and refugees throughout the Liverpool City Region. The team is looking for a well organised, creative, committed, enthusiastic leader to join the centre’s management team and help the charity develop.

The issue of asylum and immigration is one of the most controversial of our time. Behind the newspaper headlines there are real people often with desperate stories who are trying to navigate a system that is complex and unforgiving. ALM engages with asylum seekers from across the world to provide services that include social work, ESOL provision, access to legal advocacy and access to destitution services to meet the acute practical needs of our clients. We also provide a range of social and well-being activities that address the isolation and loneliness many asylum seekers experience. All of these functions run out of our bustling centre in Edge Hill, Liverpool in a four storey listed Victorian former presbytery.

You will report to ALM’s centre manager and be responsible for ensuring that the day to day operation of the centre is well organised and smooth-running. This will be partly ensuring that the centre is being well managed and partly developing and leading the team of volunteers and staff who help deliver the services.

Working in this sector is often challenging, sometimes extremely difficult, but ultimately incredibly rewarding; there are ample opportunities for personal and professional development. The successful applicant will be inspired by the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of some of the most marginalised people in society.

Find further details and apply via the Asylum Link Merseyside website.

Closing date: Friday 20 November
