Award-winning sustainable garden unveiled at The People’s Place

In August 2023, Everton in the Community (EitC) and Feeding Liverpool unveiled the ‘Brickyard: Grow, Cook, Eat’ show garden at the People’s Place, EitC’s dedicated wellbeing hub in L4. The garden was opened for community use and visitors were treated to delicious food cooked from homegrown produce. Members of the LCVS team had the privilege of attending the event.

The garden was designed by Conal McGuire of Conal Studio and won several awards at the Tatton Park RHS Flower Show before being relocated to the People’s Place. The sustainable outdoor space was designed to inspire new ideas on how awkward spaces in cities can be adapted to modern living and growing produce.

This latest addition to the Goodison Campus will now be used for therapy sessions, group counselling, community events and community outreach work. Additionally, residents can now access homegrown food and will be given the opportunity to learn how to grow their own produce. The garden will also be accessible to Feeding Liverpool’s network who partnered with EitC to deliver this project.
