Employer Bio

Blackburne House was established in 1983 to help women, particularly black women and those from disadvantaged backgrounds progress into employment within technical professions – an area in which women were under-represented at the time. In 1991, they moved into the beautiful, Grade II-listed building in Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter that is now their home.

Today, Blackburne House is a vibrant and thriving organisation with a core focus on education. As a leading education centre they offer a wide range of nationally recognised courses, qualifications and development opportunities primarily (although not exclusively) to women. They have also established a number of successful social enterprises that support their educational aims; their facilities include a thriving bistro, wellness offering, conference and events facilities and a 30-place nursery, as well as the highly regarded School for Social Entrepreneurs North West.

They believe that women deserve the very best opportunities to shape their own lives. Over the last decades, Blackburne House has empowered many thousands of women through the provision of high-quality education of all types. They support the development and education of local and often vulnerable women, providing up to 1000 learning opportunities each year in a safe, welcoming and diverse environment.

Job Overview

They now have an opportunity to join Blackburne House as the Head of Education and Compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to build upon existing provision and help realise their potential for growth. You’ll be a passionate and influential individual with the ability to engage and inspire everyone you encounter with a clear, powerful vision for education and the doors it can open for women. You will be responsible for the highly effective management of Blackburne House’s Education contract to the standards required by LCRCA, EFA, Ofsted and the Governing Board.

They want to hear from those with experience of working at a senior level in an education setting and an understanding of the funding criteria for AEB set by the ESFA and LCRCA. They are looking for someone who is fully conversant with the Education Inspection Framework and all updates, ensuring these standards are fully embedded within all delivery and programme development. You must have Inspection or Nominee experience with a proven track record in managing high quality classroom programmes and have the ability to relate professionally to students and staff of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

As an equal opportunities’ employer, they welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and would particularly welcome applications from ethnic minorities, disabled people and LGBTQIA+ people.
