BlackFest – Creative Producer

Term: Full-time.
Salary: £494 per week.
Hours per week: 40 hours.
Reporting to: BlackFest Co-Directors.
Location: Liverpool.

BlackFest is an annual grassroots homegrown combined Black arts festival founded in 2018 which platforms and develops work by Black creatives and communities in established arts venues and community spaces, bridging the gap between institutions and marginalised communities. The festival answers a crucial need in Liverpool’s cultural offer: celebrating Black arts. BlackFest is committed to presenting a diverse and innovative programme of new writing which speaks to and reflects British contemporary society and changing the status quo.

Job Description

The duties and responsibilities highlighted in this Job Description are indicative and may vary over time. Post holders are expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and scope of the post, which has been established on this basis.

Producing

  • The general day to day running and delivery of projects, including BlackFest’s annual festival, and accompanying administrative tasks
  • Manage community projects, and development of new work
  • Support, organise, manage touring and production for BlackFest artists development programme
  • Maintaining contact with and overseeing the development and management of project participants.

Audience Development and Marketing

  • Support freelance audience engagement and marketing specialists to identify target audiences and to devise ambitious and inclusive campaigns
  • Lead on developing inventive and dynamic comms initiatives for individual projects and the festival as required
  • Cultivate a care-led approach to audience engagement, working with the Director and wider team to develop new approaches to engaging with and supporting audiences
  • Contribute to and champion the development of audience access approaches and initiatives.

Fundraising

  • Strong demonstrable experience in fundraising and bid writing minimum 2 years.
  • Support the development of the organisation’s fundraising plan, led by the Director
  • Ensure audience, artist and participant information is consistently gathered in an efficient and ethical way
  • Lead on evaluation for projects and support and contribute to wider organisational and programme evaluation i.e. annual reports and individual project and event report.

General Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain supportive and trusting relationships with artists, creative people and partners
  • Champion inclusive practices, access, well-being, mentoring and training
  • Keep up to date with developments in the performing arts sector locally, nationally and internationally
  • Ensure the company’s producing activity conforms to all financial, legal, statutory and contractual requirements.
