Are you an ambitious and influential Business Development Manager looking for that diverse and highly rewarding senior role that will take your career to the next level?

Then don’t miss this exciting opportunity to use your impressive experience, relationship-building skills and analytical approach to drive forward Capacity: The Public Service Lab, a game-changing venture exploring new ideas for improving public services.

Capacity: The Public Service Lab is an innovative collaboration between Catch22, Interserve, Big Society Capital and Club Finance. A physical hub for a broad range of stakeholders, the Lab’s idea is to create a space through which public services can be reimagined to become more accessible, user-centred and commercially sustainable.

About the role Reporting to the Chief Executive, our successful candidate will use their wealth of experience to advise and mentor voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) on all aspects of business development and successful service delivery. This will encompass everything from business planning and how to become contract ready to market feasibility, governance, operational management and financial viability. Operating across the Liverpool City region, you will proactively identify organisations with a clear contracting opportunity that require early stage support to put through the Capacity’s Incubator or Accelerator programme to ensure they are contract ready. In addition, leading contract bidding processes and working with each VCSE to find and translate information, understand problems, identify solutions, implement action plans and review and reflect on outcomes are also key elements of this role.

To secure this excellent opportunity, you must be: Educated to degree level or possess a minimum of three-five years’ experience of winning contracts and funding, plus advising and mentoring VCSE organisations on how to become more sustainable. An outstanding communicator with a sound knowledge of business customer relationship management and risk assessment, you must also have played an integral role in target-driven finance teams or business development teams. Strong facilitation, business plan analysis and presentation skills, not to mention an in-depth understanding of the Liverpool City region communities, is vital, as is a full UK driving licence and enhanced DBS check.
