CIC launches creative podcast to help combat loneliness and boost wellbeing

Manchester-based theatre company, Made by Mortals CIC, has launched a new interactive fictional podcast designed to bring people of all ages together, combat loneliness and improve wellbeing – helping listeners to stay happy and healthy.

Armchair Adventures is for children, teachers, imaginative older people, carers and activity coordinators. Unlike other podcasts, it is interactive and comes with an optional activity pack that includes drama, movement and music-making activities to enjoy and experiment with as you create your own Armchair Adventure.

The podcast and optional activity pack can be used as solo or group activities, during recreational time, family visits, in-person or over Zoom… there are lots of possibilities.

Armchair Adventures podcast

Each podcast episode features 15 year old Connie and her band of plucky explorers. Connie has found herself stuck at home, in a flat above her family’s travel agents. They specialise in holidays for the over 55’s, but with all of them cancelled the business is in major trouble! Connie knows she has to do something or they could end up going bust. So, she reaches out to her amazing customers and together, they come up with an alternative approach to a traditional vacation. All it takes is a little bit of imagination.

Each month, Connie and one of her amazing customers takes the listeners on an armchair adventure. The voices that you’ll hear in each episode belong to real over 55’s stuck in isolation, who are really keen to experience the outside world through the power of imagination.

The activity pack

The optional activity pack combines written and audio instructions that guide you through a step-by-step process to create your own Armchair Adventure. It contains loads of drama, movement and music-making activities, which can be used by organisations to help their members or residents create their own adventure from their armchair.

You can download digital packs from the Made by Mortals website on a pay as you feel basis.

Physical copies are also available, for the digitally excluded. These come with CDs and/or personal MP3 players pre-loaded with all of the activity pack audio. Physical copies are £20 each (multiple purchase offers available) and are selling fast.
