Citizens Advice Liverpool Trustee Board Vacancies

Citizens Advice Liverpool is a new charitable company, which is in the process of being developed through the phased merger of separate local Citizens Advice organisations in Liverpool, to collectively deliver a full range of advice services across the City of Liverpool.

CAL has been formed to both continue and improve the quality and effectiveness of advice services to Liverpool clients and communities, in the challenging context of increasing demand and reducing funding.

The organisation is looking to recruit skilled and experienced individuals to join the Board and help develop a robust and accessible city wide service of the future. There are five trustee vacancies at the moment, to build the capacity of the new Board and strengthen governance.

As well as generic skills and experience, people with specific skills are needed to fill identified gaps, including strategic finance and accountancy, legal and governance, marketing and communications, HR, business and fundraising

These are rewarding roles for the right candidates to play a key role in establishing, developing and providing sound governance to Citizens Advice Liverpool through an initial period of change and challenge, whilst also ensuring the future sustainability and strategic direction of the service. Please note that none of these roles are remunerated, although reasonable travelling expenses incurred on Board business will be reimbursed.

The right candidates:

  • Have strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness accept collective responsibility for good governance
  • Are willing to give time and commitment to being a trustee of Citizens Advice Liverpool
  • Understand the challenges faced by local communities and want to use their skills and experience to make a difference and improve the lives of the people of Liverpool
  • Will actively contribute and participate at meetings, have relevant skills and experience to offer and are willing to learn

Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees.

For an application pack, email admin@caliverpool.org.uk or download it online. CVs are not accepted.

For more information about the roles, contact Heather Brent, CEO, on heather@caliverpool.org.uk or Alison Gibbon, Acting Chair at alison.gibbon@caliverpool.org.uk, or call 07722 663 250.

There is no specific deadline for Trustee applications but the hope is to fill a number of these vacancies by 31 October 31 2017. All interviews will take place by arrangement with shortlisted applicants.
