Community Fundraising

Community Fundraising is a new course in the LCVS training programme, taking place on 15 May 2018.

Community fundraising is about mobilising communities to support your cause and provides a very broad area of fundraising that organisations can adapt to creatively sustain and develop their service provision.

It can be as simple as a donation made by a member of the public, but the scope of community fundraising is huge. It includes everything from community events, such as fairs, sales and race nights; sponsored activities like bike rides; charity raffles and lotteries; specific appeals and campaigns; to high-profile black tie events. The only limit to community fundraising is your creativity!

“The training is a great opportunity for organisations to consider practical steps that they can take to develop new avenues of income”, says John McCormack, LCVS Funding Advisor, who is delivering the training.

“The training is suitable for new fundraisers, those new to community fundraising or for more experienced fundraisers looking for new ideas or a refresher. The training provides practical advice and resources on where to start and how to deliver successful activities.”

Many organisations that LCVS supports are heavily or solely grant reliant. This training is a starting point in developing a community fundraising strategy for your organisation and to identify different ways to generate income.

The training will include an overview of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Fundraising Regulator, as fundraisers need to be aware of the changes to the law.

The training costs £50 to voluntary sector organisations (£65) to others and you can book your place here.
