The Roman Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury is a large charity serving 93 parishes (along with 28 other churches and chapels) and 106 Catholic Schools across the ancient counties Cheshire and Shropshire. Within the Diocese there is a strong tradition of support for the work of parishes, Diocese and the Catholic Church through donations. Traditionally these have been by cash, cheque and standing order. In response to the challenges of the pandemic the Diocese is seeking to appoint a new individual giving and legacy fundraiser to offer individuals the opportunity to review and consider their giving, and to encourage new ways of giving where there are appropriate. At all times the role will be sensitive to donors, allowing them to donate at a level which is right for them.
The role is to work with parishes in developing a Diocesan individual giving and legacy programme. This will include in person, offline and online activities promoting and developing regular giving in parishes, contactless giving, Gift Aid and legacy giving, as well as supporting giving to Diocesan appeals.
The successful candidate will be required to uphold the ethos of the Catholic Church and to conduct themselves at all times in a manner commensurate with the role. The Diocese is Shrewsbury is committed to the nationally agreed policies on Safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults, as well as creating a safe environment for all. The successful candidate would be expected to commit to following the Diocesan policies on Safeguarding (as adopted from national policies) as well as those on Health and Safety, alongside all other policies as set out in the Staff Handbook.
Completed applications to be sent to Pauline McCulloch at recruitment@dioceseofshrewsbury.org.
Deadline: Friday 18 February 2022.
