British Red Cross Refugee Week Open Day

Do you want to know more about how refugees and asylum seekers are supported by the British Red Cross in Liverpool? Are you interested in supporting refugees and asylum seekers in your own organisation?  Would you like to work with British Red Cross Refugee Support to help reach more refugees and asylum seekers in your community?

British Red Cross warmly invites you to an open day where you can learn more about our Refugee Support service that has assisted asylum seekers and refugees in Liverpool for the past six years and find out how you can support both its work and service users.

The event takes place during Refugee Week 2017, a national week of activities and events that celebrate our shared future with asylum seeker and refugees. This event is for charities, faith groups, community groups and individuals who play an active role in the local community to explore how a positive, shared future can be built with asylum seekers and refugees living in the area.

The open day will highlight the services British Red Cross provides in Liverpool in engaging an interactive ways, including:

• Asylum ‘snakes and ladders’ game demonstrating the ups and downs that service users may face while being supported by the casework team
• Examples of the positive effects asylum seekers undertaking volunteering can have on their wellbeing and the services offered by host organisations
• A ‘Language Swap’ activity where service users exchange phrases from their own language with attendees
• Chance to learn about the importance of inclusive social spaces and leisure activities while watching a football coaching sessions from the Hub’s football pitch

There will also be opportunities to network with staff, volunteers and service users from British Red Cross and other local agencies. Together we can build a shared future!
