Celebrating Care Leavers & Making a Difference Together | “It’s our city too”

Event Date: 26 September 2024

10 AM – 2 PM on Thursday 26 September 2024 | St George’s Hall, Liverpool

LCVS is delighted to extend an invitation from The Lord Mayor, Councillor Richard Kemp, and Liverpool City Council to an upcoming conference dedicated to supporting care leavers in Liverpool.

There are over 700 care leavers in Liverpool between the age of 18 and 25, many facing significant challenges, including housing instability, educational disadvantages, and barriers to employment.

This conference is a unique opportunity for leaders, professionals, and businesses to gain deeper insight into the adversities and trauma that care leavers often face.

It is also a platform to explore how the business community can offer tangible support, whether through employment opportunities, mentorship, or other forms of assistance, to help care leavers become work and training ready.

What to expect:

  • Inspiring Presentations: Hear directly from care leavers as they give performances, share their personal experiences, stories of resilience, and their aspirations for the future
  • Expert Discussions: Engage in discussions with key leaders, including Jenny Turnross, Director of Children and Young People’s Services, and Councillor Liz Parsons, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, to better understand the specific needs of care leavers
  • Business and Community Initiatives: Learn from organisations like John Lewis, Everton in the Community, and Liverpool FC Foundation as they showcase successful initiatives and discuss how businesses can contribute to supporting care leavers.
