Developing a Zero Carbon Manifesto for Merseyside

Event Date: 29 June 2019

Developing a Zero Carbon Manifesto for Merseyside, Sat 29th April, 10am to 3:30pm
The Brink, 15 – 21 Parr Street,Liverpool, L1 4JN

Zero Carbon Labour Merseyside, a group of Labour members and climate activists, are hosting this event with the aim of collectively thinking about how Merseyside can become zero carbon, whilst discussing a positive vision for the future of our community.

Organisers say, ‘As well as preventing catastrophe, moving to zero carbon can bring about huge benefits such as improved health and wellbeing, economic security and greater democratic accountability.’

The event is open to everyone, and will include a series of facilitated roundtable discussions on topics including energy, transport, housing and jobs.

It will begin with short talks from Mika Minio-Paluello (Labour Energy Forum), Abhijith Subramanian (Youth Climate Strikes), Dan Carden MP (Acting Shadow Secretary of State for International Development) and Clara Paillard (PCS Union) followed by roundtable discussions in you will be invited to take part in forming policy ideas and actions. These will be collated and presented to key decision makers in the region, as well as informing the future campaigns of Zero Carbon Labour Merseyside.

Organisers would like diverse representation at the event; too often climate breakdown discussions are dominated by white, non-disabled, often middle-class people – if anyone is concerned that this event might not be for them, it almost certainly is!

They are able to offer childcare and lunch, if made aware in advance. They will also do their best to accommodate access issues.
