Friday 13 October 2017, 7-8.30pm – Kuumba Imani Millenium Centre, 4 Princes Road, Liverpool, L8 1TH.
ITN/Getty Images and Cosmic Joke Productions Ltd. invite you to join filmmaker James Arthur Armstrong for the private screening of his short documentary Sin Bin of the City.
The film unravels the events of the fateful summer of 1981, cutting through the noise to the voices of the community at the centre of the conflict. Through extensive archive research and personal testimony, the film details the feelings of the Liverpool 8 community: their perceived oppression by a racist police force and isolation from their own city, the events of the so-called riots and the attempts of the Conservative government to gloss over a city in managed decline. Shedding new light on unheard voices and asking what, if anything, has changed for the community today?
