The annual Christmas concert held by The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust is due to take place in the iconic St. George’s Hall on Thursday 13 December. Funds raised from this festive evening of carols and special performances will go towards purchasing a new ultrasound scanner for our breast cancer team.
One of the headline acts for this amazing night is the mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge, whose late father was treated for blood cancer at the Royal in 2014.
“All the doctors and nurses in the Royal were wonderful with my dad, and their treatment meant that he could make the most of life. He’d always be there at my concerts, and he’ll be there in my heart at this one too,” said Katherine.
“Supporting the Royal is my way of giving something back to the hospital which gave my family so much. And when I sing, my dad will definitely be there in all our hearts.”
Kathryn has sung for the R Charity Christmas concert since 2014 and has been described as “one of Britain’s brightest young mezzos” by What’s on Stage and named “Rising Star of Classical Music” by The Times. She has performed leading roles to critical acclaim in opera productions including Rosina in The Barber of Seville and Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
Other acts include The Rainford Brass Band, Mersey Wave Choir and Booker Avenue Junior School. The event will be hosted by Roger Phillips.
Lauren Davies, head of fundraising for R Charity said: “The funds raised from this year’s concert will help to purchase a new Breast Ultrasound scanner which will be used to help with early diagnosis for our breast cancer patients, so we’re really excited about this event.”
“We’re also extremely grateful to Mayor Joe Anderson for supporting this year’s concert by donating the beautiful concert room of St George’s Hall.”
Tickets are now on sale at £10 or concessions at £8. Family tickets are available for £25, which cover two adults and two children under 16.
