Contract: A maximum of two terms (one term is 3 years).
Term: Approximately 100 hours per year.
Salary: Unremunerated (agreed travel and expenses reimbursed).
Reporting to: Chief Executive and Trustees.
Location: Fact Liverpool, 88 Wood Street, Liverpool L1 4DQ.
The Board meets four times a year, plus an AGM and an annual Board Away Day. It is important that the Chair is able to visit the organisation in Liverpool, and can be available to the Chief Executive on a regular basis (usually electronically or by telephone).
FACT Liverpool stands for Film, Art and Creative Technology. Imagined and made in Liverpool, they make internationally exceptional art, science and technology projects that radically explore society and its most pressing issues. Each year they welcome 250,000 visitors to their building, and collaborate with over 10,000 adults and young people through their Learning Programme, which they deliver in partnership with schools and community organisations across the Liverpool City Region. Their award-winning building on Wood Street, which opened in 2003, has two large art galleries, three cinemas, a media and events space, a lab for learning and experimentation, a café, bakery and bar.
They are looking for a Chair to lead and direct the Board of Trustees during an exciting phase of development and artistic vision, leading towards the integration of the whole building as one organisation in 2028.
At FACT, their mission is to enrich lives and shape the future through Film, Art and Creative Technology. Key to this mission is their role as an international centre for artistic excellence and a hub for the local community.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the Board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of FACT Liverpool, in compliance with charity and company law and any other relevant legislation, and to support the Chief Executive of FACT Liverpool and ensure the Board works in partnership with staff to achieve the aims of the organisation.
