Free Basic Energy Awareness Training

Improve energy efficiency in communities!

National Energy Action (NEA), the national energy efficiency and fuel poverty charity, is offering a limited number of free three-hour basic energy awareness training sessions to those working with low-income and vulnerable individuals who struggle to manage their energy use and/or keep their homes warm. Courses are available to those working in both statutory and voluntary sector organisations.

The course will help trainees to become more energy aware and will equip them with the knowledge to provide basic energy advice and to signpost individuals to appropriate schemes, support and services to help them achieve a warmer, more energy efficient home.

Course outline:

  • Understanding fuel poverty and the impact of cold homes
  • Energy use at home
  • Getting to grips with heating and hot water systems and controls
  • Understanding fuel bills, payment methods and getting the best energy deals
  • Sources of advice, schemes and services

All trainees receive free information resources to help signpost advice recipients to available services.

Sessions are available on an in-house basis to organisations wishing to train a group of staff (minimum of 15 per course). Course dates and locations will be agreed with the organisation. Open access dates may also be scheduled for individual bookings depending on demand.

For further details and bookings, contact Tracy Norris, Business Support Officer at NEA on 0191 269 2946 or email tracy.norris@nea.org.uk.
