Liverpool City Council are offering a FREE Young Heritage Champions 4-day programme from Monday 13 August to Thursday 16 August (09.30 – 16.30).
Based at St George’s Hall, all participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course with food and refreshments provided each day in. Attendees will learn about history, design, architecture, art, inclusion and will have the opportunity to develop their photography skills. The programme is aimed at youngsters aged 14 – 19 years old.
The programme is as follows:
Day 1: a look at the rare Minton tiles in St George’s hall and watch them being covered over as part of a ‘looking after heritage’ session; an introduction to the buildings at risk across the city and starting to understand the difficulties associated with conservation and preservation
Day 2: a focus on inclusive design within heritage buildings with a tour of St George’s Hall; a practical exercise in re-designing a heritage space to be inclusive
Day 3: an introduction to Liverpool’s World Heritage site (presentation and walking tour)
Day 4: Becoming a Heritage Champion: A practical workshop to create a legacy of the YHCs’ ideas and designs
