Countdown to General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR

There are less than five months to until the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May 2018.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has resources available to help organisations.

ICO’s blog GDPR is not Y2K looks well beyond January, highlighting accountability under the new legislation. The ICO website is packed with information for all organisations. Guidance updates are being regularly published, there is a new series of FAQs for smaller organisations, plus various data protection self-assessment toolkits and checklists.

The ICO has also created a package of resources and advice to help small organisations prepare for the GDPR.

The advice line is open Monday-Friday on 0303 123 1113, and includes a dedicated GDPR preparation helpline for small organisations on option 4.

Whatever stage your preparations are at, let’s use 25 May 2018 as the opportunity for all organisations to improve their data protection practices in 2018 and for years to come.
