Employer Bio

Health Equalities Group (HEG) is a public health charity working to improve the wellbeing of communities across the UK. They’re an independent voice for preventative public health in the North-West and beyond. They believe everyone deserves to live a long, healthy and happy life. But right now, not everyone gets that opportunity. That’s why they work with local authorities, charities, the NHS and central government to help improve the conditions that hold back so many of our communities.

HEG currently delivers Food Active, a healthier weight programme supporting local authority public health teams in North West England. They also deliver additional projects addressing obesity and other non-communicable diseases for a range of national and regional organisations, including NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards, Office for Health Improvement & Disparities, Cancer Alliances, sports organisations and third sector organisations.

Job Summary

Owing to a sustained period of growth for the charity, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a dynamic and influential team to support Food Active’s North West Network. The role will involve liaison with a range of partners across local authorities and NHS organisations, but also the third sector and research institutions.

The role may also involve supporting wider projects being delivered by HEG addressing non-communicable diseases and health inequalities. They are seeking an enthusiastic project officer who has some experience of either public health or wider healthcare who has an ambition to develop a career in the field of preventative public health. The candidate will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organisational and time management skills, and experience of supporting the administration of projects, preferably in a public health or healthcare environment.
